Polarized Sunglasses Should Assist Your Eye Sight

Everyone needs to keep their eyes protected from unsafe sunrays by using sunglasses. The glasses that are advised by opticians are ones that protect against UVB, HEV and UVA rays. You will be saving yourself from getting cancer around your eyes and cataracts.

Shade from glasses, is not only meant to keep you from having your eyes half closed when you are enjoying the outdoors or when driving. Dark glasses are not available so you look good. The reason for glasses that give shade to ones’ eyes is protection.

When you leave your eyes unprotected for even a brief amount of time you risk getting them sunburned. This is often painful and gives you a feeling of having dirt in them. This will not cause permanent damage to your eyes. Not having any glasses that block out the suns’ rays over a long time period can be permanently damaging. People must be made aware of the damage that can occur to their eyes when left unprotected.

Studies have proved that long-term exposure to UVA will lead to cataracts and damage to the retina. UVB rays do not have as much energy as UVA ones do, but if overexposure can give you skin cancer in the eye area. Being exposed to UVB rays for a shorter length of time will cause the corneas to become inflamed. This has the effect of short term blindness lasting over twenty four hours.

Eighty percent of exposure to the sun occurs when people are younger than age 18. Children are known to spend more time outside than adults. This is why it is very important to protect their eyes as well as your own. Glasses that block out at least ninety nine percent of harmful rays are recommended.

Plastic and glass lenses are effective at blocking out damaging rays. Look for labels that read UV absorption 400nm. This is the same as absorbing 100 percent of UV rays.

The light that bounces off pavement or other smooth surfaces like water is called glare. Polarized lenses will cut down on glare but do little to protect your eyes. UV protection can be combined with polarized lenses so that you get both glare reduction and protection.

UV protection is not based on the color of the lens in your glasses. You can get a light amber lens and still have better protection than if you had a dark gray lens. The color of the lenses only matters for the protection from HEV rays. HEV stands for high-energy visible radiation. This will sometimes be called blue light.

{Ultraviolet light rays do have more energy than HEV rays, but HEV radiation will go deeper into the eyes and have damaging effects on your retinas. A reddish brown, bronze or copper lens is best for protection from these rays. The label on these glasses might say blue blocking. You can find glasses that will protect you from all of the harmful rays.Ultraviolet light is stronger than high-energy visible light, but the rays from the HEV light go deeper into the eye. This can cause retinal damage. Glasses that protect against this would be bronze, copper or reddish in color. The label on these might say blue blocking lenses. You can get all of the protection against UVA, UVB and HEV in one lens.

It is clear why the right polarized sunglasses are important to everyone. All people might not to have the entire combination of lenses but everyone needs at least the UV protection with Hugo Boss sunglasses.
