My aunt was always somewhat of a fashion connoisseur. She loved objects of class and desire. She had great taste in those things and a lot of people loved that about her. But apart from all those things she had a weakness for designer watches or to be specific, Gucci watches. She adored them and had a collection that could make any person go green with envy.

When my aunt was just twelve years of age, she started building her impressive collection and continues to do so. At seventeen she received a gift, a designer Gucci watch given to her by her boyfriend, who is now her husband. He could easily afford one due to the wealthy status of his father. His father was a diplomat. Auntie was now a devotee of the brand, and would not compromise for other brands.

The watch given to her by her husband was made of pure silver and also water proof. She was very proud of it. It made her happy and she felt a sense of satisfaction wearing it. The watch had a great impact on her and she was moved by its beauty. No one was allowed to touch it, as Auntie was very possessive about it. As days went by, the watch seemed to hypnotize her and she knew they were special.

My aunt would save money whenever possible so that she could have enough to buy a new model and she did not have to, to such a great extent due to her rich, well to do husband who would contribute to the buying. She usually bought one on her birthday or on a very special occasion. Soon all her relatives, friends and everyone whom she knew, were aware of her new found obsession.

When she turned thirty, she bought another model, which increased the number of her collection to fifteen and she had no intention to stop there. Her collection was quite versatile and a pleasure to look at. Auntie also had a custom made one which was pure gold, scratch proof, water resistant and had her initials inscribed on it

On turning fifty, the collection had well over sixty watches. And every watch had an exclusive appeal; dissimilarity was a strong feature. My aunt had become very faithful to her brand and trusted it with all her heart. It seemed like she had a job in the company. Her watches attracted a lot of attention and soon the newspapers and magazines wanted to meet her for interviews and other queries.

A local magazine published an article about my aunt and her worthy possessions. She was overjoyed by this gesture. She was thankful to her husband for his cooperation and support in all ways.

The collection as of now has ninety two watches of all types, and all of them are Gucci watch. Auntie is now seventy three and still has not given up collecting watch for men. A closet, that is locked all the time has the collection inside it. The keys to it are only in the hands of my aunt. Many people come to a have look at the collection and admire it. This collection is a true family heirloom!
